Goal: $25,000.00
Specific Need
As Twin Valley Developmental Services prepares to celebrate 50 years of serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Marshall County, we are looking toward the future. Many of our day service and residential facilities have served us well for decades and are now in need of significant updates and renovations.
Funds raised through the Blue Rapids Circle of Giving Match Day will help launch our 50th Anniversary Capital Campaign, providing the resources needed to modernize our facilities, improve accessibility, enhance safety, and create welcoming spaces where the individuals we serve can thrive.
Your investment today will help ensure that Twin Valley continues "working to enhance the lives of the citizens we serve" for the next 50 years.
Mission
Working to Enhance the lives of the folks we serve
Profile
Over 40 years ago an organization was formed that would change the face of disability services in northeast Kansas forever. Twin Valley Developmental Services, Inc., founded in 1976 with the cooperation of ARC (association of parents and interested people advocating for services and rights of the people we serve) of Washington and Marshall counties, was created as a place for local adult citizens to come during the day.
Initially funded through a Developmental Disability Council grant from Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services, Twin Valley set up two sheltered work sites — Greenleaf and Beattie, Kan.
Originally the centers serviced 12 clients who lived at home and were brought to the workshop sites. Today, the organization, which has expanded to include several sheltered and independent work and living sites in both towns and several other towns throughout the area, serves nearly 74 adult consumers and 16 children.
Through the years Twin Valley has strived to locate opportunities for its consumers to learn marketable job skills and eventually real, on-site work opportunities.
TVDSI offers a number of programs to help achieve our overall goal of helping the fold we serve become as independent and active in our community as possible. These programs include
- Living Opportunities
- Day Services
- Work Opportunities
- Case Management
- Transportation.
