Blue Rapids Tree Board

Goal: $19,000.00

Specific Need

With the establishment of Blue Rapids Arboretum being a tremendous success in 2024-25, 2026 saw the addition of a Redbud Collection located at Riverside Park and color-changing uplighting illuminating mature trees on the Square providing a unique nightime experience.

Next steps include the second phase of tree labeling and materials to maintain signage and mulch rings.

If you wish to have a memorial tree planted for a family member, friend, or occasion, please consider donating to our Tree Fund on Match Day.

Thank you!

Mission

The Blue Rapids Tree Board strives to promote the health and beauty of Blue Rapids' urban forest.

Profile

BLUE RAPIDS HAS BEEN A TREE CITY FOR 44 YEARS!

Consider our trees and the many benefits they offer to our community. Beyond their less tangible benefits such as improving air quality and water filtration we enjoy the shade they provide, the break they give from relentless Kansas winds, and their seasonal beauty. The goal of every tree nut is to start a forest (excuse the pun). It is our goal to provide the knowledge, resources, and enthusiasm required to create and sustain the most effective small town urban forest stewardship program in Kansas.

Tree care places a high demand on resources, a demand that is difficult to meet when weighed against other infrastructure needs. But remember, trees are an integral component of city appearance and welfare and should not be overlooked. We must be creative in how problems are resolved, it will have to be a community wide effort.

When we see newly planted trees they seem to indicate a growing and prosperous community. Trees are planted for the generations to come indicating hope for the future. As we strive to facilitate community growth we must show that we have hope in the future of Blue Rapids!
