Goal: $20,000.00

Specific Need

We want to beautify and revitalize the Blue Rapids area. Revitalizing the downtown area, beautification of the city, economic development, opportunities for youth...all these things will take funds that are not readily available. We will need funds to make the dream come true to bring Blue Rapids back to a vital community with a variety of businesses and tourist opportunities.

Current goals:

1. Install a outdoor, permanent speaker system on the square (ordered, soon to be installed.)

2. Welcome banners on the highway and entry to Blue Rapids.

3. Complete a large mural on a building as you enter the square.

4. Fund a matching grant for new or existing businesses in town to encourage business retention and growth.

5. Continue activities in the community to strengthen community involvement and enrichment.

Mission

The Blue Rapids Community Action Team is a volunteer organization working together to achieve a goal of community involvement and improvement, as well as economic development.

Profile

Blue Rapids Community Action Team continues to thrive! We have added new volunteers that have been so helpful!

This year we held another spring clean up to spruce up the town, planted flower pots and hanging baskets and watered them all summer, hosted the Yard of the Month this summer, enjoyed outdoor movie nights, continued to add to the picnic park north of the community building, held numerous fundraisers including delicious fried chicken and all the fixin's. A Road Ramble is coming this September, Fall Fest in October and all the Christmas activities including a live nativity.

We are in the process of installing a new outdoor speaker system on the square that could be utilized daily and for any events on the square. Work on a mural on the northwest side of the square is progressing. It will be a sunflower design with the words "Welcome to Blue Rapids" incorporated in the mural. We are looking into banners to put on utility poles to welcome people to our town as they travel down the highway. We want them to come see our beautiful square! A matching grant for new or existing businesses was attempted this year. Several organizations were willing to donate funds to match a grant to update one of our historic building. We did not receive the grant, but will reapply this fall. We did receive a grant from Evergy for a new swing set in the park which will be installed in the near future. So...many goals to complete, all to make Blue Rapids Better! We would welcome donations toward these projects! Come visit our great town!!
