Alcove Spring Fund

Goal: $10,000.00

Specific Need

Alcove Spring is a 220 acre park dedicated to the preservation to one of the most significant sites on the Oregon-California Trail. The park is administered by the Alcove Spring Historic Trust which is a  not for profit organization. The Trust depends strictly on donations and an occasional grant for maintenance, as well as numerous volunteers.

In a typical year the park hosts several thousand visitors from over 40 states and a dozen foreign countries. Besides historical preservation the park has several miles of hiking and biking trails. It is often used by scouting groups and school groups.

The park is still recovering from an F1 tornado that did a lot of damage to the trees and trails in 2022, and money is needed to help with clean up costs. Regular expenses include maintaining signage and structures at the area and improving the visiting experience.

We are also seeking to rehabilitate a space in town for an outstanding library of books and historical information relating to the Oregon-California Trail as well as  artifacts and interpretive information for researchers and interested visitors. All donations are greatly appreciated and very helpful to maintain this outstanding site of American history.
